Broadband

The broadband market is reaching maturity. It's now normal for users to bypass narrowband altogether, rather than starting on narrowband and progressing to broadband as usage increases.

54% of the UK population now has broadband, and 89% of all home internet users have broadband.

That translates as 26 million people in the UK with broadband.

The average broadband user spends 16 hours a week online, more than twice as long as narrowband users.

38% of home broadband users use wireless at home.

40% of households take communications services as a bundle

Broadband is an enabler for consumers to access even more media online; broadband users are more likely to do the following than the average internet user:

- Play games online
- Download music
- Download TV programmes/films
- Stream video clips
